Coeur Rochester Mine Transforms Bed Liner Strategy with DINGO Partnership

Nov 1, 2023 | Company News, Customer Stories, Insights

The Coeur Rochester Mine, Pershing County, Nevada, USA, has partnered with DINGO to move its bed liner replacement strategy from time-based to condition-based service intervals.

Site Maintenance teams have implemented the Trakka Asset Health Manager app (TAHM) to record the current condition of bed liners on their haul truck fleet. TAHM is used to capture photographs with annotations, document wear and log ultrasonic measurements at bedliner inspection points. Alert levels, based on Coeur Rochester Maintenance team recommendations, are set by DINGO’s Condition Intelligence team who draw on their expert industry knowledge and experience. When inspections are completed on-site, data is synced with Trakka®, allowing powerful insights to be delivered to every level of the Rochester organization.

This site was experiencing crusher jamming due to metal contamination in the ore from bedliner-related wear. “Liner package wear studies are tracked on a regular basis and inspections are performed on a set schedule to support decision-making on assets and risk mitigation strategy,” says Coeur Mining’s Director of Maintenance and Reliability, Jorge Solorzano.

After data is analyzed in Trakka®, corrective work is identified, and work orders are created in Coeur Rochester’s ERP, managing any issues through to resolution. Using Trakka data and insights, trucks with new or good condition liners are approved to feed crushers, mitigating risk, and significantly reducing downtime of a key piece of equipment.

Following the successful and creative application of TAHM, Mr. Solorzano said, “We extended the service life of 67% of our bedliners in 2022 vs. the time-based strategy. This process allows for real-time ‘Condition Based’ decision-making, with the ability to minimize unscheduled downtime and mitigate unbudgeted risks”. Richard Miller, Mobile Maintenance Superintendent at Coeur Rochester added: “Our expectation with this condition-based approach is to extend the liner service life by 40% going forward.”

DINGO is proud to apply our unmatched industry expertise in support of improved operational efficiency at Coeur Rochester, guiding this customer on their journey from preventive to predictive maintenance.

Collaborate with DINGO to apply Trakka® creatively to your operation and find a better way to safely extend component life.
