PRODUCT TIP - Use Alarm
Groups to Manage Best Practice Trials
For any site wanting to move
to Lubrication and Oil Analysis Best Practices, the problem of managing a test
program can be formidable. Typically, a sub-set of equipment is chosen for the
trial. Trial equipment items are
maintained according to the best practices being trialled
and results for the trial equipment are compared with those of the control
group. If results are satisfactory, best
practices may be applied to equipment site-wide.
An issue to be faced along
the way is how to deal with the information generated throughout the
trial. FleetOil provides sophisticated
tools to review Oil Analysis results for groups of equipment. You can assign the trial equipment to a
specific alarm group and the control equipment to a different alarm group. This lets you set up alarm levels that are
specific to the trial equipment. A
typical alarm value you may want to set at a different level for the trial
equipment is ISO cleanliness. In this
way, alerts can be generated when cleanliness falls outside your target zones.
In Trend Viewer, you can
compare equipment in the trial and control groups
to:
- determine effectiveness at
adhering to trial paramters such as ISO cleanliness
and oil change intervals.
- detect
any changes in wear metal generation with the trial equipment - is the rate of
change higher or lower?
Information is presented
visually so is easy to digest and interpret. Reports may be generated showing
for e.g. the correlation between ISO cleanliness and wear metal readings.
