DINGO MOVES BRISBANE OFFICE

The Brisbane office is moving to a new location!  Company expansion and new product development meant the old location was no longer adequate. The new offices provide more space, a workspace that more closely matches needs and a purpose-built web-server room.  We're all excited about it as, along with the recent relocation of the US office from St Louis to Denver, it heralds the beginning of a new era for Dingo.

New office details are as follows:

Dingo Maintenance Systems

Level 2

9 Sherwood Road

Toowong Qld 4066

Australia

Tel:  +61 7 3115 9000

Fax:  +61 7 3115 9010

There will be some interruption to our email service during this period. We cannot guarantee that emails sent from now until Feb 6th will reach recipients at Dingo in Australia.  The US office will receive emails as normal.  If you are unsure whether an email has been received, or it is an urgent matter, please call at the above number.  We apologize for any inconvenience caused during this period.  Our email service is currently being upgraded to avoid this type of service interruption in the future.

PRODUCT TIP - TREND WHERE THE ACTION IS - THE SHOP FLOOR

There are many ingredients to a successful Oil Analysis program.  One that is often overlooked is the inclusion of shop floor personnel in results-sharing and decision-making.  This oversight can make or break a program.

Mechanics and Technicians are intimately familiar with the equipment. They know things about the equipment a manager or planner may not. Excluding them from access to Oil Analysis information denies your operation the benefit of their experience and knowledge when it comes time to actually make a decision on what to do with problem equipment.  Many companies have realized this and are now trying to push decision making as close as possible to where the work is performed.  A hurdle often encountered is the need for information to be shared using computers and the lack of appropriate skills or training on the shop floor.

Mechanics and Technicians are generally more interested in large pieces of equipment than computers!  If anything computer-wise is going to work in the crash-and-burn environment of the shop floor, it needs to be simple... and bullet-proof.

Many of our customers overlook the fact that FleetOil's Trend Viewer can be set up to operate by itself on a workstation.  This is ideal for the shop floor as:

- there is no need to log in

- there is no need to navigate to the Trend Viewer

- oil analysis data cannot be changed, only viewed

- opening the Trend Viewer is a simple double-click on an icon on the desktop...trends are displayed immediately.

- maintenance events can be easily viewed on the trends

- Mechanics can perform opportunistic maintenance by checking trends for problems while the equipment is still in the shop

- somebody more familiar with the software can set up a number of appropriate "views" which are then easily selectable by all

- training required is minimal

- Mechanics and Technicians don't have to worry about accidentally messing things up

Customers that have used this feature have found it to be very successful as it simplifies and facilitates the inclusion of those less familiar with the quirks of the software world.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - HERE'S HOW TO DO IT:

These steps should be performed by a system administrator.  They apply only to single-database systems.  If you have multiple databases, the setup is more complex and you should consult with Dingo on the best method.

- Start the idapi configuration utility

- Select the Aliases tab

- Click New Alias

- Type data1 in the New alias name field and click OK

- Click in the blank field to the right of the parameter PATH

- Type in the path to the database.  This will generally be

X:\fleetwin\data where X is the drive FleetOil is installed on.

- Close the idapi configuration utility and click Yes to save changes when prompted.

- Go to the workstation where you want the Trend Viewer icon.

- Run the workstation install:

    - Browse to X:\fleetwin\system using windows explorer

    - Run the program wrkstat.exe

    - Enter the correct paths to the main and tutorial databases

    - Click Install

- Set up the Trend Viewer icon on the desktop:

    - Right-mouse click on the workstation desktop

    - Select New | Shortcut

    - Click Browse and browse to X:\fleetwin\system

    - Select TRENDIT.EXE and click OK

    - Click Next and type Trend Viewer as the shortcut name

    - Click Finish - a shortcut should then appear on the desktop

    - Right-mouse click the Trend Viewer icon and select Properties

    - Click in the Target field and edit it to read:

      X:\fleetwin\system\trendit.exe X:\fleetwin\idapi\idapi.cfg

- Start the Trend Viewer and test

If there are any problems at all, consult with a Dingo representative.

Best Regards,
